During the summer months we look for part time help driving tours, it is a great side hustle for college kids home from school, teachers trying to make some money during their summer months and retirees who want a fulfilling job… with great pay. Tours begin and end by the Strong Museum of Play in the city center. While we do tours year round we are looking for summer help. The earliest tour start time is at 1pm, our latest tour starts at 8:30pm so you are done a little after 10:30.
Guides must be personable and able to connect with all different types of people. Be a good public speaker to be able to convey directions and pose people for group photos. And to take pride in their picture taking by making sure everyone is looking, getting them to do fun poses and send them out to the groups. That is why we get such great tips because we do much more than just get groups from point A to point B.
Employees must have a drivers license, be 18+ years old and have near full weekend availability during the summer months. Weekends are when the tours are so we need employees to be available. Employees can expect between 2-5 tours per week during the summer, some weeks are busier than others. We do not get many last minute bookings so you will have a schedule 7+ days before the week. We can easily accommodate needing a weekend off for a wedding, a night for a concert but it doesn’t make sense for us or you to work this job if you need off many weekends over the course of a summer.
Training- How we train employees is that you first shadow a tour, pedaling and learning from the owner. At the very end we will let you drive around the parking lot next to our garage and if you want to move forward after this tour we will send you training material to read over and upon passing an oral exam over the information then you do a free friends and family tour where you will drive them on a simulated pedal tour. After that you will be driving tours
Pay- $16 per hour plus tips. A standard tip is $5 per guest, the bikes fit up to 13 or 15 people per bike. You normally get closer to a fuller bike than the minimum of 7 guests. Tours are 2 hours. Pay is bi weekly
